Lijo Jose Pellissery is the director of the 2024 Malayalam action movie Malaikottai Vaaliban, which stars Mohanlal in the title character. Producers of the movie include MC Philip, Jacob Babu, Siddharth Anand Kumar, Achu Baby John, Vikram Mehra, and Shibu Baby John. Prashant Pillai is the film's composer, and Madhu Neelakandan is in charge of the photography.

The movie narrates the tale of a talented volleyball player named Malaikottai Vaaliban (Mohanlal). He is renowned for his strong spikes and serves as his team's captain. But he's also an impetuous, hot-headed man, which often lands him in problems.


One day, Vaaliban's squad is competing against another team in a competition. Although Vaaliban is playing well, the match is tight. He is, nonetheless, removed from the game after arguing with the referee. Vaaliban storms off the court, enraged.


Vaaliban witnesses a bunch of guys harassing a young woman as he is leaving. The men beat him up when he steps in to save the woman. After being brought to the hospital, Vaaliban receives medical attention for his wounds.


Vaaliban meets Anjali, a doctor, when he is in the hospital (Sonalee Kulkarni). Anjali is a gentle and kind person who aids in Vaaliban's healing from his wounds. Vaaliban has feelings for Anjali, but he's scared to Vaaliban is eventually allowed to leave the hospital. After going back home, he makes an effort to start over, but he can't let go of Anjali. He makes the decision to see her at the hospital once more.



Vaaliban finds out that Anjali has been moved to a different hospital when he gets at the hospital. When he arrives at the other hospital, he is informed that Anjali has departed. Vaaliban is devastated and at a loss for what to do.


Vaaliban makes the decision to set off in search of Anjali. Despite his extensive travels, he is unable to locate her. After a while he quits up and heads back home.
Now, Vaaliban is a different person. He is no longer impetuous and hot-headed. He is now a cool-headed man who is committed to his work. He excels as a volleyball player and wins several competitions with his squad.

While competing in a tournament one day, Vaaliban notices Anjali among the audience. He rushes over to her, happy to see her. Vaaliban tells Anjali how much he loves her as they embrace. Anjali confesses her love for Vaaliban to him.
